Missing Molokai...

No roamin' for Rudy today. We're still camped out at my sister's working on DAM, DAM and more DAM (digital asset management).

Happy birthday to my mom today. She's 88 years young and still going strong!!!

Rudy and the gang
Great Falls, Virginia

No roamin' today. Rudy is causing quite a stir in the neighborhood, however. One neighbor's curiosity finally got the better of him and he stopped and asked for a tour. Turns out he's a specialist in recovery training for the military and he's offered to work with us on our recovery skills (using winches, etc.). It's probably not a matter of IF we get stuck, but a matter of WHEN. I think we're going to take him up on it!

As the sun sets on Molokai in 2012, we wish you a happy and healthy 2013.
Susan and Steve

We're boondocking in my sister's driveway in Great Falls, Virginia for a few days while we catch up on sleep and make the transition back to reality--bills, laundry, digital asset management, etc. Re-entry from Molokai is bittersweet--we're so happy to be back with Rudy but we're so missing the magic of Molokai. Looking forward to the day when we take Rudy to the "Most Hawaiian Island."

Aloha, Molokai. We're soooooo sad to leave this wondrous place. See you next year.

Today is a very long travel day. We'll be back in DC tomorrow morning for our reunion with "Rudy."

The Bog at the Molokai Forest Preserve

This time we made it through the Molokai Forest Preserve without getting stuck.

The boardwalk at the entrance into the bog.

The heart of the bog.

A fiddlehead fern ready to unfold.

It was a mile and a half hike through the dense bog to get to the top but it was worth it!

We all had trouble staying on the incredibly narrow, rickety boardwalk--it was like trying to walk on a balance beam covered with mud. We were filthy and full of joy. A great time was had by all!!!
